A day at Rey Grocery

30 Nov

After Cleo’s therapy session Thursday we had lunch at T.G.I.F.’s….the first place we ate in the city last year. It’s totally American with some modifications to the menu. After, we spent some time shopping. First at a large 3 story department store, Conway (complete with a Target logo sign). Women’s clothing and shoes on 1, Children’s and Men’s on 2, and furniture and half of the floor area in Christmas Decor on 3.

We saved the grocery stop for last. The Rey stores are a national chain (Super 99 and Romero’s are two others). We wanted to look for some items which were hard to find in smaller Boquete. Some have asked where will you find food, etc. Panama is NOT a third world country. Virtually anything you have in the states is available here, including many of the familiar brands you’re used to there. The pictures were taken inside a ways from the actual front. There is an entrance, some office/business locations along the way, and then a large ‘bank’ of cashiers across the front. Tried to give an idea of the depth and width of the grocery aisles. Over a dozen aisles across. It is simply massive and all encompassing with respect to product offerings.
