Evening Sunset over Mt. Baru

Caught this picture off our deck the other night.

We just got an email weather station report a couple days ago for the month of November. While its been warm and comfortable, it has rained quite a bit. Usually some each day, sometimes very heavy, and others the bajareque mists. We know it rains here averaging 2 or more times what we get in Salem. But the report listed over 12 inches for November in El Santuario area (where we are), on the mountain side above town. The prevailing North winds push moisture off the Carribean where it ‘catches’ on the mountains. That was more than double the next volume reported (from 6 other stations in the area), and ranged down to just over 2″ at a couple. So its easy to see there are truly ‘micro-climates’ here. David, the larger city 40 minutes south of us has many 100+ degree days each year and is quite humid, while this area rarely gets into the 90’s nor suffers from the high humidity.
