We’ve been asked why by many. The following likely was written by an expat American in answer in a local publication: There are certainly many good reasons to live in Boquete. A large part of the community is made up of North Americans (U.S. and Canada) who have found in Boquete a place to enjoy their retirement while maintaining an active lifestyle.  This community has shaped and influenced Boquete considerably.  The range of cultural activities and events are tailored in large part to the needs of this target group.  From organic food to Spanish classes, outstanding theater with talented actors, courses for aspiring actors, widely varied musical productions, two golf courses, theaters, shopping, internet connections and the city of David only 30 minutes away, Boquete offers everything you need to live a fulfilling and active lifestyle.   Here, you can create the kind of life that is no longer possible in big cities, without having to compromise on essentials. After two years in Boquete, I can only say that there are many happy people who have settled here. Each day is a gift, to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, the friendliness of the people and the variety of activities available, not to mention a wonderfully mild and uncomplicated climate. It comes as no surprise that more and more people, especially younger people, are flocking to Boquete on business, as tourists or looking for a place to live in peace and safety, in an ideal climate with a high yet affordable standard of living.
